Translators were necessary since some patients spoke only their own indigenous language, Kikomba, and didn't speak Swahili (East Africa’s lingua franca) or English. Here, Dr David Lisowski’s excellent translator (standing) speaks one of the six languages she knows fluently to talk with friends and fellow MCF graduates. Dr Gregoire is a blur, speeding to his next young patient.
